Episode 25

The anniversaries of Hard Core and Ill Na Na

Published on: 13th November, 2021

On this episode Jay Ray checks in on his recent #COVID19 diagnosis, and the benefits of vaccination. The two also remember and honor the lives lost in the #Astroworld tragedy. They shine a light on Heavy D and Puff Daddy's AIDS charity basketball game crowd stampede tragedy that happened in December, 1991.

For the show's main topic, in November, 1996, the course of women in rap radically shifted. On November 12, Lil Kim's "Hard Core" dropped and on November 19th, Foxy Brown's "Ill Na Na" dropped. The houses they built still reverberate throughout music today. Listen to this show as Jay Ray and Sir Daniel dive into it.
